Your first eye test

Children under the age of 5 won't be able to tell you if there's a vision problem. In many cases, they assume their vision is the same as everyone else's and problems are only detected during an eye test. We recommend the first eye test to be before the age of 3 and their second one when they start kindergarten or year 1.

How vision affects learning

Did you know that one out of four children has a vision problem which may be affecting their ability to concentrate and understand in the classroom. Problems with seeing blurry, double or unsteady vision and poor tracking skills can affect reading skills.

Strabismus and Amblyopia

Did you know that children with eye turns and lazy eyes are more common than you realise? 3-5% (or 1 in 30) people will have this condition which most commonly develops in the ages of 2-3 years. The latest research now says you can still improve these visual problems after the 'critical' age period.
